Anyone hiking with the Oakmont Hikers will be required to sign a disclaimer form relieving the Hiking Club Directors and Hike Leaders from legal liability in regard to any Hiking Club activity. This form will only have to be signed once and will then be kept on file. Also, a copy of the signed form will be returned to the signee (for their records) to the address given on the form. If you are hiking with the Oakmont Hikers for the first time, please print and fill out the Disclaimer Form found on the website and bring it with you to the Berger Center.
Although hike leaders usually carry a first-aid kit, the Oakmont Hikers are in no way responsible for providing first-aid to any participants and it is suggested that, if desired, participants carry their own first aid kits.
For car pools to hiking sites away from the home area (i.e. Annadel State Park, Hood Mt. Regional Park, Sugar Loaf Ridge State Park and Jack London State Park) riders should share in the cost of gas with the driver. A suggested contribution is $5.00 per person.
The Oakmont Hiking Club always welcomes and needs members who are willing to be hike leaders. It can be a fun and rewarding experience and be assured that one of our hiking club directors will go with you to pre-hike your first hike if needed or be with you on the first hike you agree to lead. The Oakmont Hiking Club will sincerely appreciate your participation in leading our club hikes. For a handy checklist for this activity, please see hike leader instructions
